Maracaibo Bistro Information

Maracaibo Bistro is a Venezuelan restaurant at 2876 Virginia Beach Boulevard in Virginia Beach, where corn-based staples, plantains, rice and beans, grilled meats, and seafood give the menu a more specific identity than the broader “Latin American restaurant” label suggests. The emphasis is on substantial Venezuelan comfort food alongside grilled and seafood dishes, making the restaurant better suited to a full lunch or dinner than a light café-style stop.

A few dishes communicate that identity particularly well. Cachapas use a sweet-corn base filled with cheese and sour cream, with savory meats available as additions, creating a natural sweet-and-savory contrast. Pabellón Criollo brings rice, beans, sweet plantains, egg, a small arepa, and a choice of meat together as a composed Venezuelan plate. For groups or first-time diners, the Sampler Maracaibo combines mini empanadas, tequeños, arepitas, and pataconsitos, offering several different expressions of corn, cheese, and plantain without requiring a tour of the entire menu. Grilled meats, parrillas, and seafood broaden the selection while keeping those Venezuelan staples at the center of the experience.

Customer feedback generally reinforces the impression of hearty food and generous portions. Arepas, empanadas, patacones, and the sampler recur in positive comments, while several diners mention returning or bringing family on a future visit. Delivery feedback also describes portions favorably. Experiences are not completely uniform, however: recent ordering reviews include occasional criticism of seasoning and cachapas, suggesting that consistency can vary by dish or visit. That mix is useful context for diners,Maracaibo Bistro earns much of its appeal from filling, familiar combinations rather than from a highly polished fine-dining format.

Service contributes to the restaurant’s welcoming, social character. Friendly treatment and attentive staff appear repeatedly in available feedback, while reservations, takeout, delivery, catering, and private-event options make the restaurant flexible beyond an ordinary table for two. Its official private-party program also accommodates larger celebrations, giving Maracaibo Bistro a practical role for birthdays, family gatherings, and group occasions as well as casual meals.

The mood can become more energetic when entertainment is scheduled. Recent 2026 social activity includes Latin music, salsa, and bachata events, so some evenings lean toward a lively social experience rather than quiet conversation. Diners planning a celebration may appreciate that added energy, while couples or families seeking a calmer dinner may want to check the current event schedule first.

Overall, Maracaibo Bistro fits diners looking for a generous Venezuelan meal in a casual, sociable setting, whether for lunch, family dinner, a group celebration, or an entertainment-focused evening. If corn-based dishes, sweet-and-savory plantain combinations, substantial grilled plates, and an approachable atmosphere match the experience you want, it is worth considering for your next Virginia Beach meal. Hours, services, events, and availability may change, so check current details before visiting.

What People's Say About Place

This place is awesome! Our server Mei was amazing from start to finish! She recommended the ceviche de chicharron (pork belly)....my husband loved it!! The empanadas was excellent! We also had some mini arepitas - yum!! I tried a cachapas - it was a sweet corn arepa with sour cream and chicken. It was super flavorful though a little much sour cream for me. I also had the pollo en salsa champiñon. It had mushrooms, rice, and sweet plantains. The flavor was great. They have bar seating and several tables. They also have a dance floor so I can only imagine how live it gets! We will definitely go back.

Overall, the experience was good. The Venezuelan food was tasty and had that homemade flavor. I’ve tried Venezuelan restaurants in different countries, and this one holds up well, though it didn’t completely wow me. Maybe the time or day we chose to visit wasn’t the best for the atmosphere, as it felt a bit quiet. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for well-prepared traditional Venezuelan dishes.

Meriam was very good and so helpful today. The food was amazing, tastes like home! The sampler was delicious, the tequeños were amazing. Thank meriam for a great service and she’s super friendly and kind! The patacon was my favorite so far

The traditional Venezuela dishes are the way to go. Even though this may seem minimal the black beannnnnnns!! amazing and if I’m mentioning something that small imagine the empanadas, the margaritas. We will definitely be back and our belly’s are full with plenty of leftovers. Customer service was incredible this was our first time and everyone was helpful to include mei our server.

We had Camila take care of us with a huge smile every time she came to our table. She wasn’t only friendly and attentive she also made excellent food suggestions for us. Everything she suggested was 10/10. The food was great. The atmosphere needs a little help. The restroom was nice, not well maintained.

Karina was our server today, she was really friendly and nice, food was delicious and they serve a good size portion A must try! We received a delicious chocolate ice cream at the end

Food , service and ambiance was 10/10 . La bandeja paisa , the Maracaibo appetizer was amazing. Piña colada was too. Can't wait to go back . It was a bit busy but they were attentive .

The food tasted delicious, fresh, well made! Presentation on each plate was beautiful and appetizing. They have a bar, stage area for dancing and live music, and the bathrooms are clean.
